SOUTHERN CLIMES

The sun on our faces, a slight breeze in our sails, the smell of black powder lingering in the clean air... What more could a pirate want? (well... more booty, a tot of rum and maybe a parrot, but other than that...)

Portland Pirate Festival (Portland OR) September 21-22

Last weekend we traveled south to support our pirating neighbors in Oregon. Our living history pavillion seemed to be the most talked-about display at the festival (however, we might be just a bit biased). We had an opportunity to meet so many great people and do what we do best: Educate, entertain, and enjoy!

Check back soon for updated pictures from PPF.

 PORTLAND PIRATE FESTIVAL

... And then there was smoke

The ground shook, the air was filled with a beautiful fog, and the grasshoppers ran for their lives. When we fired Peg-Leg Peggy, our 2-pound brass cannon, even the weeds were impressed. Our live black powder gun battles with the Privateer Lynx were fruitful. We all got plenty of sand in our shoes and grit in our teeth. Not quite the booty Captain Jack Savage was looking for, but better than nothing.

Living history...

No, we're not talking about the age of some of our pirates. We're talking about the Portland Pirate Festival. We had a great time sharing our treasures and showing you the Pirate Way.

Seconds anyone?

They're still talking about it in the Village Square... The afternoon duel between Captain Jack Savage and Captain Robert "Cockroach" Blair started over something trivial (well, Gracie doesn't consider herself trivial, but she does know some odd facts). The weapons were chosen, the seconds were prepared, the paces were counted and then the shots were fired.

Savage's second fell to the ground, having been hit by a stray bullet from Cockroach's wonky aim. Then Cockroach's second fell with a mighty thud - Savage being too upset to aim properly himself.

When the Captains saw what had happened, they shared a shrug, a hug and a mug of ale. All's well now in the Village.
