Jonathan Edward Savage, aka "Jack Savage" or "Gunner"

Jack Savage was born a pirate and comes from a long line of privateers and pirates who have spent almost their entire life at sea.  Jack (also known as Gunner) was marooned on a tiny spit of an island in the Caribbean for allegedly cheating at cards and drinking all the rum on board ship.  A passing ship found him there, more dead than alive.  Jack’s quick tongue convinced the Captain of personal wealth if he took Gunner to the port where he’d hid the treasure, but as soon as they neared land, Gunner jumped ship and swam to freedom.  Some say Jack Savage got the nickname “Blackjack” because he wins so much at cards.  But those that knows him, knows he got his name because he is as deadly with cards as he is with cannon and pistols.  A skilled Master Gunner with cannon, musket, pistol or blunderbuss (when he’s sober), he also enjoys carving up anyone who gets in his way with his Russian Kindjals.  Jonathan Edward Savage holds the rank of Master Gunner.  Click here for addional pictures of Captain Savage.

Gracie Hawkins

Gracie Hawkins hails from Devonshire England.  Her brothers all went to sea and came home with stories about their grand adventures and the wonderful places they had been to.  Not wanting to waste her life being married to a pig farmer, and live in Devonshire all her life, she disguised herself as a boy and worked her way across the Atlantic on a merchant ship.  Being a very intelligent girl she soon realized there were other ways of making a living without having to work so hard.  After all, those hard working men NEEDED to be entertained when they came into port after a long, hard journey at sea, with their purses full of coins, just waiting to be spent.  And Gracie was just the person to help them spend their money and with their... ummmm... entertainment needs, (for a small nominal fee of course).  She was very adept at organizing ladies, for... ummm... entertainment purposes, (for a small nominal fee of course).  You could say she is an entertainment engineer.  Gracie also dabbles in other business ventures that wandered her way, no questions asked, (for a small nominal fee of course).  She has a reputation for standing up for herself and her girls especially if someone gets out of hand or tries to cheat her.  Gracie is a bad girl, who’s very good at what she does.  Gracie holds the rank of Gun Captain.

Mercy Dillingham

Mercy was the adventurous youngest daughter of a wealthy landowner from Bedfordshire, England.  She was given quite a bit of freedom – no one was immune to Mercy’s charms, and she often got her way with her parents and everyone else who met her.  Those who were silly enough to try to impose their will upon her often gave up and yelled, “Mercy” in exasperation.

On one of her many escapes from the family estate, she traveled to the coast and fell in love with the sea.  She longed for adventure and treasure, and would sit for hours to watch the on-goings of her favorite ship, the Crimson Star.

When she saw the ship’s cook fall overboard from “tasting” his rum sauce, she quickly approached Captain Jack Savage and asked to be hired on as the new chef.  She begged, pleaded, cajoled, batted her eyelashes, twirled her hair and stomped her foot.  However, it was the hang-over remedy from 3 week old rations that finally persuaded the salty captain to hire her.  He was later over heard telling his crew members that he was just about to cry “Mercy” rather than listen to her anymore – her cooking abilities were just a bonus.

Mercy has proven herself onboard by being an excellent chef, helping the crew members write letters to their sweethearts back home, updating the ship’s log, and being a friend to one and all.

Rita Melissa Theresa Gutierrez

Educated and refined in preparation for a powerful marriage at the age of 15 Rita found herself being shipped off to the new world for a alliance to a wealthy land owner in Havana. Being of proud and obstinate Spanish decent, Rita fought the decision for marriage, but found herself on a ship the Havana in spite of her protests. On board the ship, the captain entertained Rita with stories of the sea and the workings of the ship. Being intelligent, she quickly caught on to how the ship worked and soon found she could master most of the skills required on board. Two months out at sea, the ship was attacked by Corsairs. Known for taking crews as slaves, the captain of the vessel disguised Rita as a Cabin boy, hoping it would be her best chance for survival. Serving aboard the Corsair vessel for more then two years, a chance for escape finally presented itself in Tortuga. She soon came across Captain Jonathan Edward Savage and not wanting to marry or go back to Spain, she quickly decided to become part of his crew.

John Riley, aka "Black Jack" and "Blackie"

John "Black Jack" Riley grew up quickly, with the streets of London's Whitechapel district providing their own sort of education.  Prior to his venture into piracy, his professions included those of con artist, pickpocket, card sharp, stolen-goods fence, counterfeiter, occasional smuggler and small-time thief.

"Blackie," as he's known to friends, drinking buddies and assorted partners in crime, is ever the ladies man, having not the slightest compunction about hitting on anything that seems even vaguely female, despite his spotty success in this area.  On the plus side, he has a bitingly sharp wit (along with a penchant for off-color jokes and a distinct fondness for anything with alcohol in it.)  And when the chips are down, he's a scrappy fighter and a good guy to have on your side in a bar brawl, since he's not above using pretty much anything that comes to hand as a weapon.

Gwennifer "Sterling" Bradshaw

Gwennifer "Sterling" Bradshaw was born in the port town of Aberystwyth, Wales, to a dockside tavern owner and his wife.  The second youngest of four girls, Gwen learned early to serve tables and avoid the groping of rough sailors and fishermen.  When she was 16, she met a dashing young sailor and promptly ran off with him.  Alas, she proved to be a better sailor than he was, and he drowned within a year of their union.  She petitioned the captain of his ship to take her on in his place.  She proved herself an able sea-woman and quickly became a well-respected member of the crew.  She is known to lend a hand where needed, and since she is adept with the needle, is often called upon to stitch up cuts and tend wounds.  Her crewmates call her Gwen Sterling because she can always find the "silver lining" in bad situations and she has a inordinate fondness for shiny things.

Handsome Stranger

Handsome Stranger (named after his father!!) is one of our newest and most talented crew members.  He's a free spirit (something else he shares with his father) and goes where the wind blows.  Fortunately for us, he likes our direction so far.  One of Handsome's talents involves using the whips in a most delightful way.  He's also extraordinary at relieving the stress of his fellow crew members after a long day at sea.   A friend to one and all (ask the girls on shore!), Handsome is a welcome addition.
