Blackbeard Decoded

If you are a history buff, movie critic, a pirate, or just love a good story then you will love to follow this research trail!

For 200 plus years, little information has been available about the man we all know as "Blackbeard" the archtype seafaring pirate. The stories throughout the atlantic and beyond, depending on which one you read, have characterized him as everything from a pirate, a privateer, a common seaman to a magistrate and are mixed up with firey tales, myths, legends and rumors.

We have way more questions than we have had answers. But that was yesterday and today dawns a new day with new information never before told until now!  Blackbeard Decoded is the information uncovered by researcher; Lady Selah SuJuris and she shares with us the facinating information as she finds it. The story literally reveals itself to you...we invite you to follow the journey, the path it leads you on will give you important knowledgeable treasure regarding Blackbeard and other famous people in history and the roles they played as well as the significance of their actions which directly and indirectly gave us a future.

Puget Sound Pirates is proud to work with Lady Selah SuJuris in promoting her new book and bring the history of pirates alive.  Join us at her book signing event, Sunday, December 7, 2008 from 1:00pm to 8:00pm at the Hilton Garden Inn on Valley Road in Renton, Washington.  We look forward to seeing you then.

Looking for Pirates

Ahoy and Greetings.  The Puget Sound Pirates: Pacific Northwest Privateers (PSP) are looking for men and women (at least 21 yo, and preferably over 30 yo.) who are interested in becoming pirates and doing pirate reenactments.   The PSP routinely performs at various Renaissance Faires, Pirate & Maritime Festivals, County Fairs, Community Events, Birthday Parties and other events.  We perform throughout Washington, Oregon and Idaho and we are expanding to perform in other states as well.

Puget Sound Pirates are the premier Black Powder Pirate group in the Pacific Northwest.  In addition to performing with black powder cannons and small arms (flintlock pistols, muskets, blunderbusses and musketoons), PSP also performs sword fights, whip shows/displays, and we have the most detailed and comprehensive living history display from the Golden Age of Piracy on the west coast.  We also have pirate games for kids of all ages.

If playing and performing as a pirate sounds like fun and a lot of work, it is.  It takes many long hours to learn what we do and perform in public.  But those who are truly dedicated and interested find it both fun and personally rewarding.

If you are interested in performing during the 2009 season, fill out an application at the Join our Crew tab.  Auditions will be scheduled in the near future.  For additional information please call 253 / 347 – 1456 during business hours.

And no, these are NOT paid positions.  We do this because we love it and enjoy educating and entertaining others.

Thank you and we look forward to having you join us.

Captain's Notes:

The Puget Sound Pirates: Pacific Northwest Privateers are trained professionals.

We are NOT combatants, and do not seek to win at combat. We are actors whose performances are designed for entertainment and educational purposes only.

NEVER point a weapon, either real, a toy, or a replica at another person.

ALWAYS assume that any weapon is loaded and that its use can harm those it is pointed toward.

NEVER attempt to copy or replicate the fights we perform.
